Last Friday was the opening for a retrospective of the work of the late Jerry Power, called appropriately "The Power of Pastel"  This September marks the 6th anniversary of his sudden passing.  Family and friends gathered to remember and celebrate the life, talent and friendship of Jerry.  Over 40 pastel works are on exhibit until November 7, 2015 at the Charlevoix Circle of Arts in Charlevoix Michigan.   It's an inspiring show and worth the trip where ever you're coming from.

One of Jerry's artist residencies was at Sleeping Bear Dunes.

His many paintings of the area are superbly done.

Just one of my favorites.  I love this composition!

beautiful Michigan landscape paintings.

I will always remember Jerry as my very talented friend.  He had the ability to paint and draw anything and do it incredibly well.  He was indeed a master of the pastel medium.  His talent was topped of by his honest humility - a refreshing combination.  I have fond memories of painting from the model along with Jerry and the gang at the studio of the late August Gloss.  Allot of painting and allot of laughter!  I use to kid Jerry and say that "he painted pretty good for a guy" :)    He'd laugh.

The evening was a great time remembering our cherished friend and his talent.   Former students recalled all they learned in his workshops.  Jerrys easy-going personality made him easy to get to know and is loved and missed by so many.  He lives on through the memories and his amazing gift of art to us.
